Artbridges in Cosmopolis

Hello!

Inauguration in Cosmopolis in Nantes was great with more than 200 people present this night. After the formal speeches and buffet, we could present our trip with some videos to the public. Exchanges with the people were very interesting. Exhibition is still on till 25th of January.

Next step in Germany in June!
See you soon!

Let’s go!!!

During our stay in Saarbruecken with the first part of our team, we could prepare the trip, confirm contacts and stops in different places of Europe.

Tomorrow morning we will leave to our first station in ex-Eastern Germany. We’ll drive to Leipzig where we will meet Charlotte and Marcel, a French-German couple.

Award ceremony PhotoMarathon Saarbrücken-Nantes-Tbilisi

On the 30th of July, we took part in presentation and award ceremony of PhotoMarathon organized by our German team Josi and Niklas from Augenblick association. This project took place in April 26th at the same time in Saarbrücken, Nantes and Tbilisi, which are twin cities. The goal was to take 24 pictures in 24 hours on the same main topic, which was this year “Director’s cut”. That was nice that French and Georgian could be at this event presented at Film Haus in Saarbruecken.

French / German border

Our first trip “on the field” took place at the “Goldene Bremm” between Metz and Sarrebrucken.

The customs offices at this border between France and Germany were abandoned in 1993 but some of the buildings still remain nowadays, surprisingly well conserved.

Saarbrücken: Meeting with Café Exodus

On Tuesday, July 29, 2014, we met Isabel Freund and Martin Bauer from our partner the local Youth Café Exodus.

We were welcomed very warmly with the local beer and discussed with them about the first projection of the some pictures from the trip in their café in September (further information will follow soon).

It was very interesting for us because they already have experience in organizing cultural exchanges between German and Georgian youngsters (see their T-Shirts). Especially for David, because he is working in a similar place in Tbilisi, so maybe there will be some corporation in the future.

The Story behind ART Bridges

563579_10151898415766708_1190424716_nThe idea of organizing the project was born at the Nantes Creative Generations forum in 2013. 2 teams from Georgia presented their projects at the forum, among other participants from Europe. Workshops organized in frames of the forum were focusing  on the development of new project ideas. This is where the first idea to combine the topic about conflicts and using art, as forum theater and photography was born. The main word, on which project has been built was walls: How people create and built visible, as well as invisible walls between each other, and how this walls foster development of conflicts on different levels. Luckily, Jean-Félix and Jérémy of the association kouakilariv’ from Nantes decided to join the project idea, helping its development even more: Instead of organizing local photo workshops, the French side brought the idea to organize a photo tour around Europe, and explore regions, people, communities on the way from Nantes to Tbilisi.  As Nantes and Tbilisi, together with Saarbrucken are twin cities, the idea was even more widened, and Augenblick joined the project as well. The final project idea has been submitted to NCG award and luckily won the third price.   Continue reading
