We shortly stopped in the so-called Europetown Goerlitz/Zgorzelec. Goerlitz is the easternmost city of Germany. The river Neisse naturally divides Poland and Germany. While crossing the border between those two countries, for the first time on our trip, we were asked by the federal police to show our passports. Meanwhile, it seemed to be random and not regular controls.
Even if Goerlitz is a border town, we haven’t the impression that the Polish culture was very visible there, except of several bilingual signs. This impression was confirmed by a lady in a private tourist office.
